Ich finde es auch krass, die Preise entwickeln sich gerade wieder zu “Jenseits von Gut und Böse”. Muss man noch mehr auf dem Zweitmarkt schauen :wink:

I am the first who hates the crazy rum prices. But I rarely use to comment on this. Because the stores and companies are profit-oriented, they exist because of this.

The main ‘culprit’ for the high prices are we the rum ‘consumers’. Purchasing more than we can drink or share. Having ‘collectable’ bottles. Enjoying to drink rare/elite/hard to get/single cask/cask strength/premium/exclusive rums, whereas the regular releases with 40/43/46% abv are labeled for non-connoisseurs etc.

This is the root of this artificial problem.

I don’t blame the stores. These are created to generate profit. If I don’t like the prices, I go somewhere else. And if I badly want some bottle, then I should keep quiet and buy it. Because purchasing spirits, especially limited editions, is not quintessential or necessary but pure luxury. It’s not ‘essentials’ like water or food necessary for us to survive.

But maybe if we start purchasing “not just for the sake of collecting or potential re-sale”, then we are going to leave less space for the stores to pump up the prices.

Otherwise, we should accept the rules of market and don’t blame anyone else but ourselves for this craziness.

I am intentionally saying “we” because I see myself also as a part of the ‘so called’ problem. Just if someone finds my post ‘incriminating’ :slightly_smiling_face::tumbler_glass:

Dynamik der Preise und Trägheit des Erstmarktes. Witzigerweise habe ich in der neusten Ausgabe des Whisky Magazins „Highland Herold“ genau über dieses Thema einen 4 seitigen Bericht geschrieben.
Free Download gibts auf der Seite vom Highland Herold. Ist zwar ganz klar auf das Thema Whisky gemĂźnzt - aber bekanntlich wird oftmals das kopiert oder adaptiert was funktioniert.
