Artesano 24y straight from the cask ohne Finish vs Priorat Cask vs Ruby Port

Fazit:

Winner: Ruby Port einfach super lecker und süffig.
Second: das Priorat Cask passt hervorragend
Last: noch unrund und Holzlastig. Unfassbar wie wichtig das Finish für den Rum ist und wie gut Sebastian arbeitet. Hut ab.

Clearly the biggest „divider“ last weekend. From „Worst spirit I ever tasted‼️“ to „OMG, love it🧡“‘and not much in between. My very own conclusion, as I tasted several Nine Leaves before:

Unique nose and style, also productionwise (made neither from molasses nor sugar cane juice, made direct from Japanese Muscovado sugar).

As distillery is closed and Velier will release the remaining stock in this Japanese cardgame series named Unsun Karuta, it will become a future classic anyway for drinking and for sure also some collectors. Rarely put a extra bottle aside, in that case I did🫣. Kanpai🇯🇵

Opinions about that one @KevinDK , @Steffmaus ? @SaibotZtar, added you a sample to your package today..

A little hint for everyone interested in Nine Leaves. Rum Depot will drop a tasting soon, don`t know exact lineup but surely it will be the current bottlings by Velier and an (unreleased!?) different one that Dirk got from Yoshi a while ago before closing it down.

Tried the Last Drops and I really like it a lot. For me personally, somewhere between an Agricole and a molasses based rum, with quite a unique flavor profile. So far for me in pure form better than mixed in a Ti Punch. Still, quite expensive for a white rum und albeit very good, not a “must buy” for me. Still got two bottles because I really like it.
