My pleasure. I love to get an idea of how things worked decades ago when it was even more exhausting to produce high quality products. Very inspiring…

I like when in old movies they said they use “modern machinery”. It puts the current times in some perspective. I wonder what will rummaking (and anything else) be like in the next 50 years, when the current “modern” will become “old”.

But as we know, the stills don’t get outdated so quickly

Lovely Clip, especially the end with the blending and aging in London.

Speaking of old stills that are still in use:

From minute 42 on Shaun Caleb explains how the old stills at DDL are still working. Very impressive, because there has to be ongoing maintenance which can only be done by specialists who exactly know what to do.

Of course, this is primarily a promotional video, but I find it very authentic and sympathetically done. I truly believe that they are very concerned about sustainability.

Einfach auch ein Entertainer :blush::it:

I have to admit that I’m not a fan of Gargano. He is somehow too jittery for me and has too much of an entertainer. I usually think Velier products are great, but I don’t like Gargano that much.

I feel the same way about Foursquare’s Richard Seeale or DDL’s Shaun Caleb, though. Real professionals, but not my kind of people.

I have to say that I am most sympathetic to the women in the rum industry. For example, Mount Gay’s Trudiann Branker, Hampden’s Christelle Harris, or Zacapa’s Lorena Vasquez.

The video is nevertheless very interesting and entertaining, thank you very much! :grinning:

I feel kind of similar but didn’t know how to put it. Thanks  there is this storytelling and marketingish aspect, even if the professionals.

Very descriptive and informative. Especially the part about the Southern Jamaican and the Trelawny Fermentation Style.

Very nice to see how sugar cane juice is still produced here using traditional methods. The video is not about rum production, but maybe someone is interested to see how sugar cane juice was pressed in Jamaica in the 18th century.

does the bespoke special character of old demerara rum results from the insecticides? May be it’s not Luca’s sense for special casks…

I didn’t listen to that episode yet, but I will as soon as I have the time. The guest line-up sounds pretty interesting.
