Caroni 96 Tasting Gang / Last Caroni. So different?

Hello,

I noticed how different rating the 2 rums got here on Rumx.

I know they were selected at the same time from the same gang.

How it comes they are 0,6 points apart?

I had a bottle of Last and I agree it was great.

Hope to hear your opinions.

Bye
P.

The main difference is that The Last is a blend of casks from the famous HTR (Heavy Trinidad Rum)-marque exclusively while Tasting Gang is a blend of HTR and LTR (Light Trinidad Rum). If you try them side by side you‘ll notice that The Last is more expressive on the typical Caroni-notes while the Tasting Gang has more nuances you‘ll also find in molasses rums aged in oak barrels - in the case of LTR rums this typically results in a bit sweeter profile with vanilla, toffee and fresh oak with little to no influence of the HTR notes that often-times are described as dirty due to associations with tar, fuel or rubber/bicycle tube.
