Every year there is activity of CZ/SK rum community to create advent rum calendar.
We are opening the 2024 one.
Here are the rules, so you can decide if you want to join -
RULES FOR CREATING A DEGU CALENDAR
(it worked for us last time, no reason to change the winning rules)
Choosing a bottle -
- everyone chooses the bottle they want to portion. Unopened, with a market value above EUR 100, volume 50cl and above. He sends me a proposal, I determine if the bottle fits us or not. The more valuable bottle you portion, the more valuable samples you will receive.
The purpose of the tasting menu is to try good and non-mass sold rums. I will mainly watch for diversity. Also volume and voltage - I donât want to have an excess of 43% or 0.5l rums in the degu menu.
Portioning -
- everyone divides their bottle into 33 equal samples. (2cl from 0.7l bottles, 1.5cl from 0.5l bottles). Unified unused bottles - PlastovĂĄ lahviÄka, lĂŠkovka Äira s bĂlĂ˝m uzĂĄvÄrem Tera 35 ml.
We all form one tasting group. But each person only gets 33 bottles. The more valuable bottle you share, the more likely you are to have more valuable bottles. (selects probability functions in excel)
A random selection of your similarly priced samples will allow us to move forward quickly = flexibly replace dormant members.
Disclosure
- each individual will mark their sample - from the side and on the lid. (last time we didnât label the lids) It doesnât matter if paper and scotch tape or hand-written stickers. I will let you know what will be written on the paper after I have finished selecting all the bottles.
- everyone takes a picture of their sample. And I donât care if itâs with flowers, with Lego or in the Caribbean. Weâre guys, not proper hipsters. (just save the children and nudity for another time. FB doesnât like such pictures)
Picture to me, I will display them all in the gallery, add your name and link to Rum-X. And you taste, comment, add information as you need.
If there is someone who would like to write an analysis for each sample, I will be happy to add them admin editing rights.
Sending
- Post office. Once you send the package to the switchboard and the second time you create a code to send the samples back.
- UPS - same procedure, only more expensive. A few foreigners wanted to join already last time. This encourages the variety of bottles.
Reward for the switchboard

the guys at the switchboard will rearrange, pack, and sort everything. If you want to give them a reward, I recommend a 2cl sample of unique rum. Mark such a bottle with a big XXX.
And donât forget that the boys do everything out of their own enthusiasm. So let your rum support them to be active in Degu menu vol.5 !!! -
