Best participants,
The second day of our calendar (0) is here!
Don’t forget to share your impression in this daily topic.
Every day, at 21:00 CET, the rum of the day will be released!
Todays Rum is:
A.A. Baker & Co. S.p.A. Australian Rum 50% | RumX
So today is the last day of our warmup. And I had to include this oddity. The neck itself tells us it is indeed not australian but west Indian (meaning caribbean rum).
The only explanation I found, which is without any source comes from Rumauctioneer: “Australian Rum was a Baker blend produced from three different types of Jamaican rums. Its unusual name was derived from its popularity with visiting Australian sailors, although it was later rebranded as Blue Swan.”
Plus, it was never named Blue Swan, so I find this hard to believe.
Rather I think this is a case of an Englishman, Arthur Arnold Baker, having English names like Battleaxe, English Punch, Harvey’s scotch and our Australian Rum. Another hint could be the large exclave of Triest people in Australia, but again only wild speculation on my part.
But, it is a regular on auction houses and of course worthy to have it as a little warm up. Cheers!
