For those looking for Barrel-Aged Mind: Demerara Distilleries 2.0 blog

If, like me, you got into the rabbit hole of Guyanese rums and are looking for every sourced piece of information everywhere, you most likely have been advised to get into blogs from Cocktail Wonk, the Lone caner, etc.

Among these sources, the one that has been recommended the most to me is from the German blog Barrel-Aged Mind, and most specifically, The Demerara Distilleries 2.0. Well unfortunately, it seems that specific page is broken since 2024 and hasn’t been fixed since, all it’s information being unaccessible. I’ve seen people commenting the page and asking for it to be back up, but while this is being done, here is a simple fix: you can use the wayback machine to look for how the page use to look before it’s last update that brought the crash:

If this is against the will of the author, or against the rule of the platform, please let me know.

I remember printing this article for 8-10 years ago, 200 pages. :grinning:

A PhD thesis on :guyana: destilleries.

The blog is semi/inactive and there is so much work and enthusiasm in this article (in the other articles as well) it deserves to be re-read again and again.

Big kudos to Marco!! :star_struck:

Who knows if Marco is still active in the rum scene?

On the web there is a number of blogs which were absolutely essential for me in the pre-RumX era. I want to mention durhum.com, rumcorner.com, singlecaskrum etc.

Flo from barrel aged thoughts is also still a very good source, even though it’s in German.

But yes the bloggers went more quiet over the years since Instagram and also RumX became bigger
