I deliberately removed the template because this is a crazy idea that I want to test the enthusiasm for. Feel free to delete this post if it violates the rules.
We have all bottles of Nobilis rum, from the first edition to number 30.
The idea has been playing on my mind for a while and personally I think this would be fantastic for any rum lover. This would be a huge split and I can imagine that it might be a lot more difficult than a single bottle.
So here it is: is anyone interested?
I’m happy to answer any additional questions.
Personally this would depend on the price. I’m not too sure what these bottles cost, but if the price per sample is not too expensive i would be interested.
Edit: and ofcourse, this is a great idea, thank you for sharing
It is a great idea! Still the cost issue might be a real road blocker as you need to find enough participants to open the bottles. A question would be if you could make rum groups, i.e. “Nobilis-Jamaica”, “Nobilis-Guyana”, “Nobilis-Barbados” etc..
Or Nobilis global region #1, #,2, #3 or something like that. Else even with 2cl times 30 = 60 cl might be too pricey as a bottle split for many rum aficionados here. And there are afficionados for specific regions that don’t want to taste the full world if it is too expensive. I for instance love Hampden but “hate” Caroni (I had some exceptional Caronis in my glass, that were brilliant, complex and smooth, and I very much respected them, but even those - for me - never reached the level of my beloved Top-Hampdens. And I would never pay 2,000 USD for such an Caroni ;-)).
Thanks for the input Werner. I’ll try to finalise the pricing.
It’s actually a great idea but I think that won’t be an easy objective ^^.
When I have more time I’ll post a list of all the bottles, maybe that will already clear up some questions.
Greetings
I don’t see this becoming a big success. I don’t want to kill your motivation, but to adjust your expectation.
Too many of the regular participants tasted far too many of the nobilis bottlings already. This mega split is interestingfor people who haven’t tasted too many of those yet, but those are rare here.
As much as I like the idea, I will not participate. In the end it will be quite a bit of money (and value for your money of course) but there will indeed also be bottles I would have less interest in if they were in a separate split.
At the same time I fully understand this concept of the full collection. Splitting the split into countries or single bottles will not work because of the immense amount of time effort that will go into that. And you will be left with the less popular bottles.
Respect for trying…but I see a problem of trust, due to unpleasant experiences with some splitters in last few years, as you are pretty unknown in RumX community.
Usually the splitter makes the split, collects the money through PayPal and then sends the samples around… This would be a nice sum of money, a nice opportunity for someone with devious intention…Just my side of thinking, sorry…or have you solution to that?
Good argument. Well that’s why I wanted to test the enthusiasm.
I knew this wasn’t going to be easy and maybe a professional should be involved.
We’ll see how this evolves
