4h30 local time. Today we leave the Terra Nova hotel. We’ll do a VIP tour of Worthy Park.
Maybe a bit of history is in order. The Terra Nova was built in 1924 by a Mr. Alexander, as a wedding gift for his bride. After that it was bought by the Myers family (yes, from Myers rum). Later in time it became property of the Lindo family before being bought by Major Blackwell. He and wis wife had a son called Chris Blackwell (look it up!) who became a famous music producer. He is responsible for giving the world world reggae music and introducing us all to Bob Marley, amongst others. Now it’s ownership belongs to the Hussey family, who also breed race horses and own the Hampden Estate.
The history rabbit hole goes way deeper, reaching a man by the name of Ian Fleming and an estate called Golden Eye, which now goes by the name of Strawberry fields (forever)
Its all about Family though …
Enjoy Worthy Park
So yeah… we did worthy Park yesterday. And I don’t even know where or how to start, knowing that I can only upload 5 photos at a time
From tasting fresh sugar cane and juice and apparently showing on their Instagram story, tasting molasses and cane sugar, tasting different rums and a couple of new projects from the distillery.
The tour what was at such a high rum nerd level and being able to do it with a group of like minded people, feeling like a motivated study trip.
It was beyond, beyond expectations and beyond predictable expectations. It was just perfect.
J’adore Worthy Park
Today we visited Long Pond. I’ve seen things that I can’t talk about online and we weren’t really allowed to take pictures. So I’ll respect that and keep the stories for real life meetings.
After that we found the the Vale Royal Estate in the jungle somewhere. Probably as one of the first European rum tourists. It was an experience…
Spontaneously (maybe I had something to do with it, I’m not sure ) we went to visit a Rastafari family and their fruit and vegetable plantation.
Much much love
We’re staying in beach villas for a couple of days, the atmosphere is amazing.
The WiFi doesn’t agree well with the forum somehow, so uploading photos isn’t an option now. So sorry about that. Maybe when we’re in the van tomorrow…
The weird thing is that it does seem to work on Facebook…
Thank you so much for your impressions. Everything I’m reading is absolutely amazing (but I would have tried to go to the Wickie Wackie music festival on Friday). I definitely need to increase my savings to make this trip in the future.
Did you see a TECB anywhere around at LP??
indeed, this is THE question! Next one to do this trip needs to take on board our collective list of RX forum questions
I can not disclose any information about Long Pond at the moment, apologies
Very nice pictures!! It’s a lot of fun to follow your posts… Thank you for that
