Day 1
It took me a few minutes …
Same here
As I see the background, we don’t need to organize a fundraiser for this.
As I see this, @MoparRules sent out a cry for help to make room in his cabinet for more rums, as otherwise he can’t buy new rums because of the lack of space
Hereby, I selflessly offer my help. Let’s start with those Cadenheads, those big bottles take up too much space anyway!
Wow… got the same one today. What you think… worse it?
well, you get what you pay for. So price to quality ratio was very fair.
selflessly or selfishly? It could be standard, boring Cadenhead’s bottlings.
Indeed, space is an issue and a recent silly move…more on another day.
Lately I was thinking about all that rum bottles that are resting at different places in my home and than an evil thought touched my soul:
What if I would stop to buy any more bottles today? How long would the stuff last that I have?
Let’s calculate! Consuming 10cl rum a week would result in 530cl a year - or for easier calculation rounding generously: 10 0,7l bottles a year.
Let’s be tuff and calculate further! Taking opened, closed and sample bottles into account I could save all that money I spend on rum for about 12 years!
What a stupid idea, math is a bitch - let’s have a drink and shop some rum!
a good point! I realized that with the speed I trink, it’s unlikely that I will be able to drink all my rum in a lifetime if I would stop buying today. But then there are new releases and those damned auction platforms…
Selflessly of course — we’re here to “help”
Did the same math, if I’d drink 2 drams every day (3cl) for the rest of my life, my math says I got 15 years of runway
I guess my liver disagrees with the math
Die gleichen Gedankenspiele hatte ich auch schon mehrmals.
Ich denke, dass ich, wenn ich nicht mindestens 90 Jahre alt werde, meine Kids eine Menge SpaĂź haben werden
Surely this picture deserves another section “Purr-fect addition to the rum shelf” @MoparRules
Day 3…
My intention, like the dry January topic, was to point to another aspect of the addiction. Buying to much rum and loosing control.
My recent purchase of the 1997 Velier Port Mourant is an example of such a stupid move. When I put it to the shelf I realized, oh, there is already one
Der Mann ist halt Jäger und Sammler…da bist Du wahrscheinlich nicht der einzige
I don’t have it on my shelf yet. I buy it at a reasonable price and both of our problems will be solved.
I am too afraid to do this calcuation, but I am forcing myself to not buy anything lately. On the other hand most of the stuff I am having an eye on since 2020, I was able to grab a bottle or a sample during 2023 and 2024, so it is rather easy to not shop anything right now. Let’s see how long that will work out.
