Rum Talk: What‘s in your glass today? (Part 1)

Ganz genau! War auch positiv überrascht. Und gut geeignet als wertiges Weihnachtsgeschenk für Einsteiger.

great combination :+1: I love the Upmann Magnums and I think the RA NY 2nd is great value for money (and still very affordable on the secondary market)

Thank you. :slightly_smiling_face:

Both were lovely. I agree with you that the RA is great for the money. This was my first young NY and I don’t regret purchasing a bottle.

Very nice! Please share your conclusions :grinning:

Comparing the V&M against your sample of the S.B.S for The Nectar tonight, too.

Wow, sehr sehr geil!

No idea if this suits the topic… but wishing everyone either happy Christmas or Holidays and I just wanted to express that I love this community and I’m very happy I joined this year. Cheers!

A cheap Caroni and a Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No.2 (with an old Belgian tax band).

Merry Christmas :tumbler_glass::dash::christmas_tree:

Apparently only 29 Bottles of this Hampden SBS HGML. As an unexpected Christmas Gift it will just do fine for the occasion.

I totally agree!

All of the SBS casks are very good and I can’t pick a winner, really. The newer bottling was the most well balanced and elegant out of the bunch, while the other three all have a little more punch one way or the other. But totally up to personal taste or the specific mood of the tasting day.

Nobilis is also very nice. Only loses somewhat on the finish, which is a little less intense… However, this is nitpicking on a very high level - I don’t think I would complain about that if I didn’t taste them side by side

On the The Nectar I had an intense menthol note after c. 1h in the glas. This was an interesting twist, but also not what I wanted  However, might just be me… I’ll have to revisit this one shortly I guess. Still very good juice.

The (old) Kill Devil and the (new) V&M release both are very subpar compared to the others. Both only have a reminisce of the SWR profile after very long time in the glas - and if you know what you are looking for… without context I don’t think I would have guessed 2001 SWR for both of them.

@DevidedByZero what do you think on the V&M? Did you like it better than me?

Frohe Weihnachten allen Forums-Mitgliedern und einen guten Start in das neue Jahr, mit hoffentlich wieder vielen spannenden FTs und diesbezüglichen Diskussionen :christmas_tree::gift::tumbler_glass::blush:

Yesterday I tried the Jungle Bird cocktail for the first time.

I wanted to change a bit from MaiTai but with a cocktail in the same spirit. Verdict: it’s really good. I will make it again to confirm this impression. And I’ll take some pictures next time

The sad thing : it killed my bottle of Hampden Overproof batch 1  . I have to find something to replace it. It becomes hard to find at the precedent prices…

Merry christmas, frohe weinachten to everyone
