Which additional fees do I have to expect when buying Rum from GB (e.g. Rum Auctioneer)?

Zu Auktionen kann ich nichts sagen, habe Anfang des Jahres aber etwas aus GB zugeschickt bekommen und das hier musste ich in Bar an der Haustür bezahlen

Buyer fee is 10% (no VAT on that when buying from EU)
Shipping starts from £23 for one bottle
Import duties and tax shouldtm be 19% import duty plus 6,60€ per litre absolute alcohol (negligible)
Then the shipping company usualy takes a fee for handling the customs processing. DHL is around 15€.
So a £100 hammer price is £110 + £23 + £20 (or £25 if shipping cost is included in import duties)
=185€ +15€ … overall around 200€ for the whole thing
Edit: yes, it’s expensive. yes, it sucks.

Wie sieht es denn mit der für mich interessanteren Variante aus?
Ich kauf bei einem (großen) Händler in UK eine Flasche für 100 Pfund ohne VAT. Versand lass ich mal außen vor. Klar, ich muss dann die deutsche MwSt zahlen und die Zollabfertigung durch DHL (16€ dafür?).
Aber was kommt dann noch an Zoll und/oder Verbrauchsteuer drauf? Verbrauchssteuer sollte ja nicht die Welt sein, da sie rein nach Vol. % alc. geht (oder?).
Anfang der Rechnung (vereinfacht) : 100 Pfund = 120€ + MwSt. 20% = 144€ + 16€ DHL = 160€ + Zoll/Verbrauchssteuer? + ggf. VSK X =?

I don’t know how it works in Germany but in France, all private companies take “administration fees” on the VAT taxing, so it’s a double taxation! Sometimes it can be very expensive (TNT pour ne pas les nommer…)
If you take the public postal service, you don’t have those fees, just the VAT 19% (that was so, last time I bought something outside UE, but that was pretty long ago, so maybe it changed since).
On rumauctionneer, you don’t have any choices in the shipping company, so take the EU based lots

Kommt immer auf den Shop an. Manche bieten direkt an, die deutsche Mehrwertsteuer zu übernehmen und dann fallen beim Zoll keine weiteren Kosten an.
Der Basis-Fall, den du beschreibtst (Einkauf VAT-free), würde dann genauso laufen wie bei der Auktion, nur eben als Startpunkt der Vekaufspreis. Eigentlich werden die Versandkosten mit berücksichtigt, aber in der Praxis hatte ich auch schon den Fall, dass nur der Warenwert herangezogen wurde.
Jo, wobei Zoll bei unter 150€ nicht anfällt (und je nach Warenart sowieso nicht) und Verbrauchssteuer wären eben die 6,60€ oder 6,80€ pro Liter Alc. absolut. Versand und Verbrauchssteuer würde ich wie gesagt gleich am Anfang mit dazu rechnen. Der Zoll sagt dazu “EUSt wird auf den Zollwert fällig”
Deine Rechnung wäre also zum Beispiel:
- £100 Kaufpreis ohne VAT, £20 Versand → £120 = 140€
- Bei 1 Liter Schnapps à 50% → 3,30€ 6,52€
- EUSt = 19% von 146,52€ → 27,84€
- Kapitalbereitstellungsgebühr des verzollenden Transportunternehmens (z.B. DHL Express: 2%, mind. 14,88€) → 14,88€
= 189,24€

Verbrauchsteuer in D beträgt 13,03 EUR je Liter reiner Alkohol.

Don’t forget that next to the cost the amount you may import into the EU is heavily limited. Just one bottle is no issue, but more than 2x70/75 cl bottles are not allowed (actually not more than 200 cl overall). I don’t know if customs keep track on that and contact you if you order one bottle multiple times in individual shipments.

I think you’re confusing this with the free quantity you may import without declaration when returning from a non-EU state.
You can of course bring larger amounts, but then you have to declare it with customs.

I was indeed mixing things up, however as a private person depending on the EU country you live in alcohol imports are strictly limited and may only be for private purposes. While the 2 litres limit for spirits as I’ve written is only valid for e.g. flight baggage imports there are country specific limits for postal imports as well.
I only have a German source at hand:
For Germany 400 kg including packaging material for personal use is a pretty large amount though 
so that’s certainly more than the 2 litres you may get on a plane, ship or train.

I envy you, guys, ordering to Germany from outside the EU is expensive but possible. In Poland you need to run importer company (approved by the minister of finances) to be able to stick the excise tax sticker to a bottle and import it legally. You can receive a gift under 1l but the auction houses are reluctant to mark the shipment as a gift.

I am currently considering ordering the Mount Gay PX Sherry Cask in the UK. After I have roughly calculated all taxes, fees and shipping costs, I wonder if I should not rather wait a few weeks until it is available in Germany. I really like the Master Blender Collection, so I tend to FOMO a bit with this series.
I basically have the feeling that many bottlings have been released in the US and UK for a long time before they come to the EU. Is it just me or is that the case? What do you guys think?

I do believe, it is the other way around. France, Italy, Benelux and for some rare occasions Germany, Denmark do get the rarest, “highest quality”, “most sought after” Bottlings. Also with some credits to Hongkong, Macau and such markets.
UK has a big problem after Brexit with trade connections to EU Mainland.
US barely has a scene for single cask rums in general. With just a few bottlers coming up slowly to bring some light into the shades. They do get some basic Hampdens, Foursquares and Clairins. But the rest of the offerings are most likely Rum that would only make it to a gas station sale in Mainland EU.
Wait, maybe I misunderstood your post and this wasnt a dick-measuring between markets…

Probably this is really just my personal impression. For example, I’m waiting for the Foursquare ECS Touchstone, which has been available in the US for a long time. And the PX Sherry Cask I also find for some weeks only in the US, UK and Hong Kong.

I don’t question the fact that we in Europe are basically very well equipped with rarities. Just need some food for thought along the lines of “give in to FOMO” or “wait and see and drink rum.”

There is so much variety in the rum market in EU mainland, that I do not see the point of waiting for some UK/US-exclusive stuff.
And the Foursquare topic is a different problem since Redoutable/switch to Marussia.
