Bon jour, a few travel impressions from my recent short trip (Sunday 5th of May until today) to Bas Armagnac (pronounced Ar-Mack-Nack according to my German Google Maps).

We had great tastings from the 2000 years down to the 1960s. A very warm welcome by Gregory and the owner Carole. Many thanks from here for the hospitality and amazing day!
Conclusion: Beautiful, remote region, warm and friendly people and great heritage with the Armagnac. The spirit is great between 15-30, maybe 40 years but doesn’t necessarily improve after. The older vintages are becoming slightly more bitter but not necessarily more balanced. We tried some very young that were amazing. The cask is the secret.
That’s it, back home to the rum shelf.
Wo hast die übernachtet und wie habt ihr euch vor Ort bewegt bzw wie war allgemein die An und Abreise.
Flug nach Bordeaux, Mietwagen und eine kleine Pension in der Nähe, Lepoutic
reizend geführt, persönlich, welcoming.
Allerdings gibt es dort in der Gegend auch nichts im Sinne von nichts ausser Wald, Schweine, Enten, Reben und eben Nichts.
Das Essen in dem kleinen Ort mit Thermalbad in der Nähe erfüllt nicht die Erwartungen, die man an Frankreich hat, wir sind eben nicht in Lyon. Das geht in Deutschland besser. Und in Italien sowieso. Oder der Bretagne. Arme Gegend aber sehr schön mit sehr netten Menschen.
Und Armagnac. Man kann ja nicht ständig in die Karibik fahren.
