Travelling Colombia

My oldest son is gonna be travelling through Colombia for 3 weeks around NY 25/26.
Any secret/hot tips what cask strength rum to look for ?
…excluding regular Dictador, Carupano, Coloma, Hechicera
Thx.

Cask strength is not really a thing in Colombia. The average supply is the around 40% Spanish style rum.
However, there has been a boom into the Viche production. As a quick and dirty comparison: it is the clairin of Colombia. If your son can bring home a bottle of that unaged, home distilled stuff, you will have a very pure expression of what Colombia has to offer. :colombia:

The only cask strength Columbia that I know of is casa Santana of which tbyrc (boutique y rum company) had a pretty solid release. ( RX5564 )
Aside of that yes there are some funky new unaged things similar to clairin happening in Columbia next to their own “tequila” since they’re having own agave plants too.
Cool country to visit I think, hope your son will have a blast there! :tada:

Colombian Viche seems really exciting.
If anyone gets a bottle and decides to do a bottle split of Viche, I’d be interested in a sample.
