Since I’m currently planning my 3 week trip to jamaica I’d like to ask if anyone has some contacts which might enable me getting a extended/more in detail Hampden visit? I was already writing a mail to the address they had on their website but only got some boring standard reply how to book their tours etc.
So if anyone got some contacts please let me know either here or by PM.
In addition I’ll probably also plan a visit either to Appleton or Worthy Park. I personally prefer WP because I imagine there are going to be less tourists and therefore one might get more into touch with them personally and receive more detailed information. So if you got some contacts for these distilleries too I’d be happy about a PM.
Also any recommendations regarding Jamaica in general are highly appreciated. Of course there will be a report and a lot of pictures coming.
Hampden and Worthy Park have both embraced tourism so have “standard” tours. I don’t know that either has a deluxe tour that you can pay for, like at some distilleries. If you have a personal connection with somebody well-placed in the company, you may be able to finagle a private tour.
Of the three you mentioned, you’ll see the least at Appleton. The standard tours aren’t oriented towards rum geeks. Worthy Park and Hampden are very different. The former is very modern, the latter very “rustic.”
You may want to take a look through my writeups and decide which to visit - or all three!
Thank you I’m pretty sure I’ve already read these articles. But by the responses I got so far I’m pretty sure I’ll visit Hampden and WP. Appleton will only be on our program in case we have some time left.
I’m also going to Jamaica in February 2025. We won’t be doing a 3 week trip, but with all high quality distillery visits. @JamRock (Robert) is the one organizing this. Please reach out to him if you would like more details.
You’re welcome to join Jam Rock 2025 if you like. As a long time traveler and more recently, bottler of Jamaican rums (Warehouse #1 Overproof and Legendary Marques Jamaican Rums), I’m very fortunate to have great personal relationships with distilleries on the island and offer deep insider access for my travelers as well as time tested itineraries that optimize travel and enjoyment. Our next trip (my 7th overall) is February 15th through the 25th and we’ll do deep dives of all 5 distilleries on the island as well as hang with the locals (no touristy stuff for us, man). Should you be interested, hit me up on robertpolo@gmail.com and I’ll send you a full description of our itinerary. Right now our group is 8 people, we have room for one or two more. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Man, that sounds like the dream. I remember you sharing the program here somewhere, and it looked absolutely stunning. As a Jamaican rum lover, I hope to have the chance to join you there someday.
I would like to clarify that what we offer is a a complete 11 day/10 night package trip including all accommodation, transportation, distillery tours and most meals. It is not split up by distillery, nor is it sold in sections. It is a rum intensive trip with a few extra local excursions included. I wish we could offer more locations and experiences, but we’d have to extend the trip to at least a month to do so!
The February 2025 Trip looks to be filled up now. If there is enough interest I could plan another for summer 2025, but the weather is more volatile, after all, it is the tropics. Still it would be an amazing time… Let’s see. Respect.
