Found duplicates rum

There is a small difference in the label here (larger flag).

How should we deal with such “duplicates”? List them separately, since there is a (small) difference on the label, or merge such “face lifts”? This is not an easy choice, since it is not possible to see “from the outside” if there are also differences in taste.

List them separately. The difference is reason enough. No matter how small the difference is.

Another interesting case that is not easy to answer. Sometimes re-desings can go hand in hand with recepie adjustments/changes. Like with the “new” El Dorado 12/15/21 or the Dictador 20 allegedly.

Since it’s impossible to know if the taste has changed or just the look, I would also vote for keeping them separate. Maybe it would be possible to distinguish better, like “small flag label / big flag label” or “matte black bottle / glossy gradient bottle” in the case of the Dictador 20.

There is something wrong because the 54.4% release should have a black label.

They have released different blue label ones with different ABV. Not only the flag is different, but the border is actually made of ropes on one of the releases.

They have different ABV depending on US and International release

Sieht wie eine Dublette aus.

Auf der unteren Flasche steht ein großes “GRAN RESERVA” auf der Flasche. Sieht nach einem Redesign (mit unterschiedlichem Geschmack?) aus?

Found this also :

Both are J Bally VO 3 year old rums, with the same ABV and pyramid shape, cannot spot a difference between those 2 bottlings.

RX9666 and RX10071 seem to be duplicates. Barrel number 435093 of RX9666 can actually be found as the correct barrel number of RX10071 with total barrel count of 281.

Hello there,

I have a little issue regarding 2 rums in the database :

RX884 and RX13002 actually refer to the 12 year old Saint James from the permanent range, and their only difference consist in the packaging, which Saint James has evolved with all their products from the original bottle to the larger and smaller one. Can we consider them as 2 different Rhums ? As I tasted RX13002 but did my tasting note on RX884, I think it would be interesting to merge them so that we refer to the rhum itself and not just the packaging.
Here is my thoughts on this (and some kind of laziness to redo my tasting too lol)

Rumely yours,

I support this idea. It’s the same for the Mount Gay releases by Rom Deluxe. They have the standard and Magnum bottle, but the rum inside is the same.

Personally I’m also pro bundling redesigned/resized bottles (except bottlings that have also redeveloped their flavour profile) to avoid confusion and clutter. For some bottlings this has already be done, e.g. Doorly’s 5yo.

For me the volume shouldn’t matter: we often taste samples (even the ones released by the bottlers themselves), where should we classify it?

Furthermore, the US and non-US standard bottles differ by 5cl and even the prices seem not to care

On the other hand, for building a collection record in the app it seems kind of essential.

@Oliver (RX16362) und (RX16590) sind auch doppelt.
