Normally I don’t interfere in discussions like these, but I’d like to add my five cents.
First of all, many of us have actually asked for a way to contribute, mostly I think, because we know that Oliver spends a lot of time taking care of his baby and that there is a cost involved.
Secondly, I work in IT and I know all about server cost and by my estimation Oliver should be getting close to 3-5000,- Euros a year on server cost in the near future (app and forum).
As the community grows so does the sever cost because if you don’t up the ante, everything will slow down or be hit with a “You have reached your daily limit”.
Now the introduction of the paid subscription may not have been properly introduced, but without contributions this app will sooner or later be gone and then what?
Remember this is my opinion and I’m one of the guys standing and sometimes bragging about this app when I’m out giving or participating in tastings. This is a great tool and believe me 4500+ reviews on paper take up a lot of space.
