not really, Well, the J.M. in the old cuban was an expensive rum and worked very well, so did the RX18823.
But I normally step away from using expensive stuff while I do believe that a bad rum doesn’t make good cocktails. But I doubt that they get better with high rated rums.

Fun little comparison (from memory). Yesterday we had one made with the drink mixer, today i used the shaker tins.
We both thought the drink mixer makes a better Mai Tai.
