I absolutely love Garret’s Mai Tai recipe, but it still boggles my mind how someone who tinkers with each component to the most minute detail to create some of the most complex, delicious revamped cocktails, still opts for store-bought orgeat for the classic of classics. In my opinion, this choice primarily has to be a tip of the hat to Berry.

Great post, thank you very much. But every detail counts when preparing the perfect cocktail. Besides the Orgeat, there are also huge differences in the results between the different Triple Secs.

The drinks in the Tropical Standard book require some effort but its all worth it. This was Derby Daiquiri

Most of the cocktails in the book require some in advance preparation(infusing rums/spirits) and use advanced techniques like acid adjusting. The cocktails i have managed to make from this book have been amazing, well worth the effort.
New cocktails and old classics updated to todays standards.
You will be spending a lot of time and money to find ingredients used in this book and it worth the effort too.
This book and Shannon Mustipher’s Tiki are my go-to books during weekends
