Rhum Fest Paris 2024

It was a really cool edition.

I had the chance to meet @Rodolphe and @cigares there (many many thanks to both of you for the bottle, for waiting for me at the entrance  and for the warm welcome) and to have a really fun time with them, especially at the A1710 stand.

I’m reviewing the notes and typing them on the app and like each year, two days would be necessary to be able to catch everything I would have liked to.

See you at the Whisky Live perhaps.

Hi friends,
First edition of Rhum Fest for me, still a little blurry because of all these new stuffs & friends met on site.
I have to say, for the prince, it’s a unique and great experience. So much brands, good vibes !
If I have something negative : a little crowdy, and some stands don’t put very new / high level stuff on the table VS at the whisky live for example.

I’m making my 90+ notes on RumX (still ongoing, and there is some missing :p) And a few returns on my Insta page, but I have to highlight:

  • Famille Ricci crazy stand, with so much nice bottles !
  • Excellence Rhum was outstanding quality line-up !
  • Zero Nine Sprits delivered - as usual
  • Savanne HERR 2023 was crazy
  • Swell de Spirits of course, also very nice
  • Surprised by the Carnival brand from Joey Starr, it’s not just marketing, it’s also good and some « brut de fut » coming soon for geeks like us !
  • Pere Labat « les mangles » was crazy
    For a short resume…

Quick photo drop

Ricci indeed had an extraordinary line-up !
IMHO the best of the whole RhumFest.

I had never seen such a crowded Saturday.
Sunday was a little bit less populated.

See you next time or perhaps at the Whisky Live in Paris.

If somebody attended both WLP and Rhum Fest Paris, how can you compare the two in the scope of rum?

If you have to choose one, choose the WLP without hesitation.

WLP +

  • same “low” rums to try
  • more “rare” rums
  • lot of coming bottlings to try before they’re coming on the shelves
  • lot of people, but in the end it’s easier to get to the stands and you waste less time waiting in vain. In the rum fest, there are more people on each stand and you can wait a lot on some stands.
  • more independant bottlers
  • lot of other spirits to try

WLP -

  • price higher

Something important that I would add :
Whisky live : whisky in the name, less young people and a price a bit higher.
Rum fest : rum in the name, more young people that come here to drink everything they can for 50€

It has consequences on the general ambience of the show. Lot of drunk people in the rumfest. This year, I was really annoyed by the attitude of some people. It spoils the atmosphere, for example in the VIP area it was really disturbing (people screaming for rare rums to drink straight from the bottle without knowing what it is and even sniffing in your glass…). I went there, tasted two rums and left because it was too annoying.

I was at both too and I have nothing to add to this excellent description.

I was only 30 minutes at Rhum Fest due to the trains but it was very busy (on Saturday). You almost had to elbow yourself into the booths to get a sample… I did not enjoy that.
Next year I will try and go on a Sunday with the hopes of a more gentle atmosphere.
