I actually find the interface quite nice after a bit of getting used to it. More classy and more “auction house” style a la Sothebys and co. However, the loading times have become much worse - that is definitely a big (temporary) step backwards.
We are aware and understand that the website has been running slower than expected following our September auction going live this afternoon. We have been looking forward to unveiling our refreshed website with you all, however, there have been some unexpected technical issues at launch.
Our development team have been, and continue to be, working urgently to investigate this issue and improve it. In order to improve the performance as quickly as possible, some functionality was temporarily disabled to improve the site speed for our customers.
We welcome all feedback, and if you have some that you would like to share, the fastest way for this to reach our development team is by completing our Contact Us form: Contact us | Rum Auctioneer. Rest assured, we are working to progress this as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience and we’re looking forward to seeing you benefit from the exciting new developments on Rum Auctioneer.
These bugs are actually a bit scary, just started browsing through the list and noticed that for quite a few of them I’m the highest bidder while I haven’t actually placed any yet. Thought someone hacked my account, but in the summary of My bids there aren’t any, so must be a bug. Still don’t feel comfortable seeing that I’m “placing” bids on several Caroni bottles. Pretty messed up. Anyone else experienced this?
Wrote them a message immediately, will see what happens.
Hi,
I’ve checked and it’s the same for me. A bit scary but not so much I guess.
Thanks for checking. Good to know im not the only one participating in every two or three lots
Wonder what other bugs there are, I think I might stay away from September auctions until they figure out all of this.
And still there is no cancel button in their great new UI. I will now let them delete my account, I just hate it when you are forced to search for a way to delete your account and this is not professional at all.
Rumtrades would be the best alternative for you?
It’s a bit of a rabbit hole, but indeed there are a lot of alternatives, even Catawiki.
What would be your beat recommendation and why?
I’m waiting for https://next-bottle.com/ to go live because there you’re only going to pay a yearly fee to sell your bottles.
Only if you have a business account will you be charged a low fee. The founders had another website for the Danish market and it worked really well, so I’m pretty sure this will work too.
I didnt order anything from catawiki. I can only emphasis that the contact with rumtrades was very kind und professional. I had huge problems to pay by Credit Card, but in the end they fixed it. It is the trade platform of Velier, so many caronis but not so much the other stuff.
How do you know this website it legitimate?
Because the people behind it are well known business men in Denmark
Keep us updated! DK is a great place for rumlovers and (nearly) everytime I contacted a potential seller on dba he doesn’t ship to Austria.
Maybe I can be the one in the middle, though shipping may be a bit high
