Holy Crap …. Thats a lot !!! …. I have to be honest and say I’m new to rum in terms of taste etc. Whisky … not a problem … Scotch and especially Japanese I know my way around but not rum so I have been buying all sorts from everywhere. Mostly I’ve bought some Amazon Rum tasting kits which were a bit rubbish… then I bought some MonyMusk and Yermouth tasting kits and they were amazing … really strong and punchy .. definately taught me to wait and let them breathe for a while …. learning about what casks effect taste and being overwhelmed by distilling types and sugar (mollasses, sugar cane, etc.) So can I ask 2 things ….? Could I ask if you have an excel sheet of these samples? and secondly could you make a recommendation or two ? Things that made you go wow !!! I’m not a far of the sweet run of the mill rums so far. I’m also happy to send you 2 or 3 50ml bottles and swap for something equivalent … doesn’t need to be an exact exchange in terms of value or anything like that. Let me know how many you’d like and I’ll get them sent

I think it’ll be good to know what you enjoyed and what you didn’t before so people here and I can recommend similar things. Equally I’m happy to recommend stuff that I personally love
(I love Jamaican funk / High ester types and the French Grand Arome equivalent, also really into agricole but I know that’s not everyone’s taste..)

I’ve got a proper Notion doc with all my spirits but I need to make a copy with less PII and things I’d rather keep private. Also that doc uses a lot of abbreviations that would need explanation. It’s been a while I meant to share it as I think it could be useful for other people as a template to manage their own collection. I’ll add a few screenshot below to give you an idea.]

I’d be interested in having 3cl of your Caroni 1998 Nº37 - 10th Anniversary of Excellence Rhum RX16507 if that’s something you can do? (that bottle costs twice as much as my most expensive one Velier Long Pond Cambridge STC❤️E 2005 13yr 62,5% | RumX, I don’t normally spend that much on one bottle)

Well I’m a bit of a collector and as I said I’m a newbie when it comes to Rum.
I have a LOT of the high end Rum’s as I just collected them for fun … So a lot of the Caroni’s including quite a lot of the Employee’s including the Tasting Gang and Employee’s united. I was toying with the idea of collecting them all but got side tracked.
So I’m not sure what I will open up next as that was my first split.
As for what I have been drinking it’s been the Yarmouth, Molymusk, Unicorn and the big Hampton kit. I also had a couple of random bottles when I was trying to find my way … also the Amazon Rum Kit but that turned out to be a let down. So what do I like … well the PX sherry cask from Yarmouth and the Malaga wine cask from Molymusk. I’m about to embark on the Hampton kit (8 bottles) when my son comes up for xmas.
So happy to go with whatever you feel … as I said at this point it’s all a bit of an adventure. As long as it’s not sweet then send me whatever.
As for sending you a sample… pop me over your address and i’ll send it down. Unfortunately i split the bottle and sealed everything into 50ml so you’ll just have to indulge yourself it’s Chrismas after all !!!

I don’t know these but sounds like you might like Hampden Pagos, it’s a sherry finish if i remember well. I have a 10cl ready to go but can also do you 5cl.

I’ve already done too much of that to be honest, but maybe Jesus will come back to change water into Caroni, I’ll happily review my religious unbelief if so

How did you both get on with the samples?
We didn’t get anywhere, would be a long story to explain but to sum it up: @Acresswell2003 is a time waster who’s only interested in flogging his collection.
This was the last message I sent him on 09/12 and I havent heard back since (not that I want to spend any more time having anything to do with him)

I then took the time to make those recommendations and prepare a sample pack tailored to you and now you don’t even want to take out the cost of those samples against that bottle I wanted to buy from you? Oh and on the other hand you’re happy to pay someone to make a website to sell your bottles. Frankly I find your behaviour disappointing.

I’m in the UK too and would be keen to see this get off the ground. Are you guys on the UK Rum Club FB group? I find RumX is great as in inventory and place to come for rum data, but the community and app is EU oriented (noting the rewards don’t ship to the UK). The UK Rum Club is better for the UK based rum community. So it might be helpful to see if there is appetite for bottle splits on there/ sharing samples.

Hi, I’m part of it too, i don’t like the fact that it’s a facebook group and controlled by a couple of people. So personnally I would rather if more people came from Facebook to here.

Yes I’m on all of the FB groups but you cannot buy/sell and trade on there and apart from a couple people on there that post regularly I don’t trust them enough to purchase from them but on here it’s a lot safer because it’s more of a community due to the passion, the only problem is the cost in posting them to the UK

That’s fair enough from a control perspective. I think they’re good people so I’ve been happy and because they are ‘responsible’ for it they obviously give time and effort to making things happen like tastings and special bottlings which I also appreciate.
Regardless of views on platform, if the main aim is to share samples I would observe that there has been limited engagement here, so you could try UK RC?

I’m already part of that group, I just find the user experience atrocious, you can’t get a simple activity feed of the group in chronological order, Suckerberg clearly thinks he knows best.
