Heute aus Minimalist Tiki ins Glas: “Slippah Sippah” (Royal Hawaiian MaiTai)
Question to everyone: Are there any rums you would recommend that are versatile enough for multiple cocktails? Looking for recommendations for light/agricoles, Jamaican, dark (if it’s any different) overproof. Thanks
Great question! I’ll send you a PM.
Why would you do that? Isn’t it fun to discuss here? I gladly share my opinion once I am at a proper keyboard
Didn’t want to flood the channel, because I had a lengthier response than expected. But you are correct. Here are my suggestions for a cost-friendly bar:
My cost-friendly bar contains fewer bottles:
One Rum for Daiquiris, Mojitos etc. (e.g. Planteray 3 Stars, Havana 3, Veritas, Chairmans White etc.)
One light, aged Rum (usually from Barbados)
One Rum for Mai Tais (e.g. Smith & Cross)
One Rum for Ti Punches (e.g. Baie des Tresors Plein Soleil)
Sometimes I have something on top of that like the OFTD, one of the unaged Jamaican overproofs, or the Burkes Seamaster White that arrived today.
Which exact bottle I am using depends on what I was craving when I bought it, I enjoy trying different rums instead of buying the same bottle twice in a row. But generally, I found that I don’t have to spend a lot of money to make a great Cocktail. And you can always add a bit of a funky Jamaican for example to adjust the cocktail to what you’d like to drink on that day instead of buying an extra bottle for that taste profile.
Seems like two Rums from a different century. Excellent price point. The HD overproof is one of my preferred Mixers.

I’ve made just about every tiki cocktail known to man at this point and I just have to +1 that the HD overproof is one of the best and most versatile cocktail bottles out there. Exceptional mixer.
I love Zombie! What’s your recipe?
25ml dark rum
25ml light rum
50ml lime juice
150ml pineapple juice
1 teaspoon of grenadine
Ich kann dir den Carribean Zombie aus Minimalist Tiki wärmstens empfehlen!
